We have released “DF Walker”, a free mobile application for forest field surveys

DeepForest Technologies Co., Ltd. (CEO: Masanori Onishi) has released DF Walker, a free Android application for forest field surveys, available for both smartphones and tablets.

DF Walker allows users to display GIS data such as orthophotos (.tif) and polygon files (.geojson) on an interactive map. The application can also show the current GPS location of the smartphone or tablet directly on the map, enabling users to overlay field survey data onto drone-acquired data in real time.

 

Polygon Drawing Tool

With DF Walker, users can draw polygons on the map and attach survey information to them. This makes it possible to record tree attributes such as species, height, diameter, and health condition as GIS data.
All data can be securely stored on DeepForest’s server, and can also be downloaded for further viewing and analysis on a PC.

 

 

Collaboration with DF Scanner

DF Walker works seamlessly with DF Scanner, DeepForest’s GIS software for forest analysis, to enable more detailed and efficient forest survey.

With this collaboration, users can walk through the field while referencing tree health conditions previously analyzed by DF Scanner.
Field-recorded data such as tree species and diameter can also be used as training data for AI models within DF Scanner.

Until now, linking field survey data with GIS data has been a complicated process.
DF Walker simplifies this workflow, making it easier and more efficient to carry out advanced forest analysis.

 

 

 

・DF Walker is available for free on the Google Play Store.
・A DF Account is required to use the application.
・The app works offline in the field, but an internet connection is needed to download or upload data.
・An iOS version is planned for future release.
